The award was presented to NCPC President Aaron Byzak, along with Erica Leary, NCPC Program Manager, and John Byrom, NCPC Community Organizing Specialist, at CADCA's 19th Annual National Leadership Forum held in National Harbor, Maryland on February 12, 2009.

NCPC brings people together to share resources, ideas, and expertise, through a process that creates opportunities to address issues in new ways and find creative solutions to prevent and reduce substance abuse.  Examples of coalition efforts :

"420 Remix - A Celebration of Sober and Drug Free Life

Choices." An annual community event to provide alternative

activities to getting high on April 20, the unofficial "marijuana holiday."

"Día del Niño - The Day of the Child"  An annual celebration of children

held at Balderrama Park in Oceanside.  This is a collaborative

effort sponsored by NCPC, the City of Oceanside, and the

     Eastside Neighborhood Association.

●  Youth coalition support for holiday DUI checkpoints in partnership with

     local law enforcement agencies.

Community town hall forums on underage drinking for parents and youth.
