Parents Who Host Lose the Most The Tri City Prevention Collaborative invites you to take the Parent Pledge and join nearly10,000 other parents in the Tri-City area in pledging: "ALL EVENTS FOR YOUTH IN MY HOME WILL BE CHAPERONED AND FREE OF ALCOHOL, TOBACCO, MARIJUANA, AND OTHER DRUGS." The Parent Pledge is sponsored by the North Coastal Prevention Coalition, a non-profit coalition of community members, educators, health agencies, law enforcement and parents committed to the prevention of alcohol, tobacco, marijuana, and other drug use by young people. DID YOU KNOW? Social Host Ordinances to prevent underage drinking make it illegal for anyone to host a party where minors are drinking alcoholic beverages. (Penalties may include a $1,000 fine, six months in jail and/or the cost of police services for the party's host.) Teens who are allowed to drink alcohol at home are more likely to engage in heavier drinking, drink more often, and are more likely to drink and drive. Teens who drink before the age of fifteen are four times more likely to become alcoholics, two times as likely to develop alcohol-related problems and more likely to have unplanned and unprotected sex than those who begin drinking at age 21. YOU CAN HELP PROTECT YOUR TEEN! Sign our Parent Pledge and join other supportive parents in preventing underage drinking parties. Contact your local police to report parties or gatherings where minors have access to alcohol. Your call may prevent motor vehicle crashes, injuries, sexual assaults and alcohol poisonings.
